What this is

An aggregator for Helsinki community, club, and arts events — pulled from venue websites and a small set of Instagram accounts that don't appear elsewhere. The aim is to make Helsinki event discovery less fragmented and less reliant on Instagram alone.

Where the data comes from

Each row links to the page we scrape from. Click through to verify — the data here is only as good as that source.

How events are processed

  1. Each venue / Instagram account is scraped on a schedule.
  2. A local LLM cleans descriptions (translates Finnish → English, removes drink prices and social links) and tags events with genre / vibe. (Still needs more work to be good, might need some crowdsourcing)
  3. Addresses are geocoded via OpenStreetMap (Nominatim).
  4. A fuzzy-matching pass merges events that appear on multiple sources, so the same gig isn't shown twice.
  5. Recurring "open hours" entries (for spaces like Trans Library or future bookshops) are kept separate from the events feed and only show when you filter to that one venue.
